How alarm systems connect to Central Monitoring Station?

Central Monitoring is a great way to protect your home when no one is at home. An alarm alerts the Central monitoring station to repond immediately. They will dispatch police or security officers to your home to check it out. All you have to do is to subscribe to a Central Monitoring service. Here is how it works.

Basically, alarm systems connects to the Central monitoring station to protect your home 24/7. Alarm systems typically connects via the regular PSTN telephone line or wireless GSM cellular network.  These are the two connection methods most commonly used around the world.

Alarm system transmit alarm signal via GSM cellular network

The alarm system with GSM backup or utilize the GSM as main alarm transmission method, it can also work with central monitoring station.

Alarm systems uses communication protocols to talk to each other. This can be 4+2 EXPRESS, Contact ID and SIA protocols as well as Caller ID depending on the equipment used. 4+2 EXPRESS and Contact ID protocols provides detail information to the Central Alarm server while lower end system only recognizes Caller ID as an alarm input alert.

SAFE ZONE alarm systems transmit alarm signal with Contact ID protocol via the traditional PSTN telephone line. If your system is configured with a SIM card, it will send SMS messages via the GSM network. The Central monitoring station will receive these messages and decode it via a Contact ID converter. SAFE ZONE G70F, GSM800 are commercial alarm systems that have the capability to simultaneously send Contact ID alarm signals via both PSTN and GSM.

If your alarm system is compatible with Contact ID, the central monitoring station can receive detail alarm information (including zone information), Arm/Disarm information, as well as Manual Test/Schedule Test information.

What If my GSM alarm system does not have any communication protocols ?

If you have GSM alarm systems that don't compatible any alarm communication protocols, then the only method for alarm monitoring is using Caller ID. If you use our central monitoring equipment and software, you need to enable the alarm receiving through Caller ID.

In addition, when add new subscribers, you need to input the alarm system's phone number into first contact number.

That means the first contact phone number must be same for the SIM number of GSM alarm system.

With only Caller ID as the alarm input alert, the central monitoring station can show limited alarm information.
